Sattva in Sanskrit means whole. I took my yoga teacher training at Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh, the birthplace of yogaSattva Yoga was created by world renowned guru Anand Mehrotra. This is a holistic practice that includes all the traditional and sacred practices of the ancient Tantric yoga tradition; kriyas, pranayama, meditation, mudras, mantras, asanas, vinyasa. The practice includes all of these elements weaved in a flow that will command your full presence, allowing you to come out of your mind and into your heart, where powerful transformation occurs.

Physically: I can adjust classes for all levels, and I can offer a meditative journey or a energizing one depending on the time of day and to whom I am sharing the practice with. This practice will exercise your cardiovascular system which is great for keeping your heart healthy and body fit, it will stretch and tone your muscles, strengthen your joints, clear your head improving brain function, naturally boost your energy, improve digestion and respiration, amongst many other benefits. There are so many positive effects from this practice that its impossible to list them all.

Energetically: The real magic to this practice is its effect on the subtle body layers known as Koshas. We have layers to our body that include our physical, mental, and emotional body. On a more subtle level we also have our energetic and bliss body. Did you know that your body is a bliss machine? You have the power to access that bliss, and these practices are designed for you to do just that by unlocking blocked or stagnant energy in the body and allowing your kundalini energy to rise.

What is Kundalini?
Kundalini in Sanskrit means the “coiled one”. It refers to a form of primal energy (or shakti) said to be located at the base of the spine. Raising this energy involves the Kundalini moving up the central channel to reach within the Sahasrara (crown) Chakra at the top of the head. Sattva Yoga focus on awakening Kundalini through meditationpranayama breathing, the practice of kriyas, asana, and chanting of mantras.
